Science of Mind Class Descriptions

Transformative classes for everyone's personal and spiritual development

New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living offers the following certificated classes:

The following classes are for everyone’s personal and spiritual development. This course of study is required for those who wish to apply for Practitioner studies (see further below).

Foundations of the Science of Mind

The Foundational Course presents a new spiritual principle each week and a spiritual practice to support that principle. The Creative Process is introduced at the beginning of the class and then flows through each week, so that the student has the opportunity to see and use the Creative Process at work in each spiritual principle.

10 Weeks plus Saturday “Power of Prayer” workshop

NOTE: This class is a prerequisite for most of the following classes.

Power of Your Word

This is an amazing course on the power of Spiritual Mind Treatment. Each week is a thoughtful approach to the deeper understandings of prayer: How does the nature of God and man create prayer, the impact of creative law and beliefs, what to pray for, affirmative treatment, and the state of continuous prayer. Each week has experiential exercises to give these ideas a reality for the student.

The Essential Ernest Holmes

This course is a loving tribute to Dr. Ernest Holmes and all of the wisdom he brought to our world. The course is based upon What We Believe and each week the student has the opportunity to examine these ideas and uncover ways to make the power of this teaching come alive in her/his life. Each week has a meditation on light that takes the student progressively deeper and deeper into the light to find inner truth.

Troward: The Edinburgh Lectures

This course is designed to give students understanding and knowledge of the principles presented in The Edinburgh Lectures by Thomas Troward. Each week is devoted to a different chapter, with the Core Principles from the Foundations course outlined.

Self-Mastery: The Emergence of the True Self

The Self Mastery Course focuses on healing the perceived separation between personality and Spirit. Through an active exploration of the creative nature of thoughts and feelings, beliefs and emotions, the students have an opportunity to gain mastery in the art of living as conscious, intentional beings.

Exploring Roots

This course provides the student with an understanding of the historical roots in America of Ernest Holmes’ philosophy. Specific emphasis will be given to the works of Thomas Troward, Emma Curtis Hopkins, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

This course is a walk through the powerful tool of Visioning. It includes the history of how visioning began in our movement with the inspiration of Dr. Michael Beckwith, offers weekly opportunities for visioning at different levels from the individual to the community to the global and explains the role of visioning in our Global Heart Model.

Prosperity Plus

This course is a dynamic, video-based program that teaches a NEW WAY OF LIVING centered on the spiritual practices of an abundant life.  You will learn ways to move from fear, scarcity, and limited thinking to a life full of possibility, prosperity, and promise.  Using curriculum developed by speaker and author Mary Morrissey, this course will be the catalyst for greater self-awareness, deeper spiritual practice, more meaningful relationships, financial increase and a stronger self-esteem.

Professional Practitioner Studies

Students who complete the above course of studies can apply to enroll in Practitioner course of studies. This two-year course prepares the student for a career as a Professional Religious Science Practitioner. License approval is only granted to candidates who have successfully passed all examinations,completed all certificated and professional course work, and met all other requirements listed in the Practitioner Code and this Education Code. Practitioner Studies Year I “Living the Principles”

The first year of the Professional Practitioner Studies is devoted to advancing spiritual awareness and expanding the student’s understanding of his/her relation to the universe. It is designed to be whole and complete within itself, preparing the student to live life more fully, whether or not she/he chooses to continue with Practitioner II Studies, and to be licensed as a Professional Practitioner.

The year is divided into three terms of 10 weeks each:

*Term 1: “How Life Gets to Be the Way It Is,” based on the Law of Cause and Effect
*Term 2: “Living the Life of Choice,” based on the Creative Process in the individual
*Term 3: “Living Life Fully,” devoted entirely to expansion of consciousness

Course work includes reading, written assignments, experiential activities, journaling, and expanded spiritual practices. Term papers are required in Terms 1 and 2, and a class project at the end of Term 3.

Practitioner Studies Year II “The Life of the Professional Practitioner”

The second year of Professional Studies focuses on the consciousness, the skills, and responsibilities of the Professional Practitioner, as well as the relationship of the Professional Practitioner to the principles we teach, to the client, to the process of healing, to the spiritual community, the community and the world.

The year is divided into three terms:

*Term 1: 10 weeks “Professional Skills and Responsibilities,” deals almost entirely with the Practitioner/Client session.
*Term 2: 13 weeks “Spiritual Healing” is devoted to the process in healing, working specifically with challenges related to money, creative self-expression, emotional health, physical health, death/dying, grief/loss, and relationships.
*Term 3: 7 weeks “Dedication, Commitment and Service” empowers the intention of each student to develop his/her Practitioner practice within the spiritual community and in the world.

Course work includes reading, written assignments, experiential activities, journaling and spiritual practices. There is a term paper for Terms 1 and 2, and a course project at the end of Term 3.
